Amazing review of sev fleece 5.0

I've been writing this blog for about two years now and for those that have been reading me from the beginning, you probably realize I have a lot of gadgets.

I just love buying everything that is new, shiny and electronic. The problem is, how you carry those gadgets when traveling or getting out of the house? A couple months ago, a friend of mine introduced me to an innovative new clothing company called Scottevest.

Who is Scottevest?
In short, Scottevest was founded by Scott Jordan, a gadget lover who thought that there should be a better way to carry them. So we invented a company that designs clothing with tons of gear friendly pockets. And I mean a ton!

The company was started in 2000 and uses the tagline "technology enabled clothing". All other products or traveler friendly (reading the review below, you'll quickly understand why).

Fleece 5.0
During one of their specials, I managed to pick up a Fleece 5.0 jacket at 30% off. So as a gadget lover, how could I resist! So what is the Fleece 5.0? As the name suggests, is the fifth generation fleece jacket from Scottevest.

First and foremost, is a great-looking jacket. You can easily wear this every day and no one would be the wiser. But just think for a second that something that looks this "normal" actually has 24 pockets in it. You heard right folks, 24 pockets.

And to be clear, we're not talking about some small dinky pockets. They have an inside pocket that can easily carry an iPad or a Kindle or a magazine.

One of the signature features of most Scottevest products is their Personal Area Network. This feature allows you to permanently or semi-permanently install your headphones in a way that completely blends in with the jacket and keeps them out of the way.

You have to inside pockets built specifically to hold cell phones or MP3 players. These pockets are covered with a special see-through material that allows you to use the devices without having to take them out of the pockets.

There's even a special water bottle holder on the outside right-hand pocket. Other pockets include:

  • individual pockets for keys
  • memory card
  • sunglasses (they even provide the cleaning cloth)
  • change pocket
  • and much much more

So one may concern my first out the jacket was how it was the low point was fully loaded. I mean loading this much stuff in the jacket is definitely going to weigh it down, isn't it? Still look strange and lopsided? Well let's clear the air, it isn't and it doesn't.

The first thing I did was carry a ton of camera equipment including batteries, chargers, memory cards and a bunch of flashes. At the same time, I was carrying a 10 inch net book, its power adapter, a 3G wireless modem and much more. Everything fits neatly in the pockets but the jacket was comfortable and neat. Nobody even though that was carrying that much equipment.

Even if you don't plan on carrying that many gadgets, this is a great jacket have around. Unlike shopping days, I can fit most of my purchases in the pockets. Many days, I can actually fit all of my briefcase items into the jacket. The fact is once you have one of these things, we're going to find a myriad of uses for it.

Conclusion
I own a really good fleece jacket from the North face that I paid $250 for. The fleece 5.0 jacket has similar quality and build by a ton more pockets. At $140, this jacket is worth every penny. And nothing else in the industry gives you this much flexibility and storage space. (Without making you look like a geek.)

Once you stick a look at this jacket, you notice just how much care is gone into its design. From the ergonomic zippers with full straps, to Velcro pocket closures, to the included lens cleaning cloth. You'll quickly notice that they care about their product any shelves.

I absolutely recommend that everyone go on by one of these jackets. I liked it so much, I bought one of their hidden cargo pants (which has 11 pockets).

New Products
Scottevest has announced that they will be releasing  some new jackets. Although they haven't provided a firm release date, they have alluded to mid-October.

One of their new products will be called the Revolution Plus jacket. They are calling this to their warmest winter jacket ever and it may just be the thing for our Canadian winters.
