What do you think of these versions of our combined logo, containing Travel Clothing and our Slogan, "for the trip of your life"

\

Attached are a few different fonts with Travel Clothing. Let me know which you like. I prefer the 1st one, I think we have too much going on with the logo as is so adding a cursive font doesn't really work for me. I can do additional comps but won't have time today since I 'm working on the bin designs.

Just put my new vest to the test...

Subject: Just put my new vest to the test...

Scott,

I had to write and tell you that my new vest helped me sail through two long flights, from JFK to Chennai, India and back, with no worries about too many carry-on bags. Security was tight, the flights were all fully booked and we were allowed only one bag. I simply can’t travel without all my things! So I filled my vest with my camera, my iPhone and iPod, my Kindle, my Altoids, my passport and credit cards, my pens, my shawl (which I tucked into the back pocket) and I was confident and comfortable with everything I needed close at hand. I feared we’d be kept in our seats for the last hour of the flight, with no access to our carry-ons. In the end, we were able to move around, but fortunately I was prepared.

Your vest is truly an amazing product, lived up to my expectations, and helped make two 18 hour flights in one week a breeze. I would only suggest that the big pocket in the back have a Velcro strap to hold things in place, like the shawl or a deflated neck pillow – otherwise the shawl tended to bunch at the bottom and look odd while wearing the vest.

With gratitude,

Chris S

World Famous Photographer LOVES his new SeV

Hey Scott:

Burma was wonderful - and my SeV made it even better.  I have attached a few photos of me in action wearing the vest and I may have a few more to follow.  You are welcome to use them.  I may also have some video but we haven't even downloaded that yet.

Apart from the obvious advantage of having a jacket that not only looks good but safely holds all your important travel papers it saved me a lot of stress in other ways.  The internal flights were strict about carry on weight and as a photographer there is no way I am going to check $20,000 worth of delicate equipment. I just put all my heavy stuff in the SeV and casually strolled onto the plane with nobody being any the wiser.  The vest elegantly concealed over 30 lbs of gear.

I am about to update my blog this weekend.  Until today I have been chasing my tail trying to catch up.

Thanks again Scott.  You have found a true believer.

Best,

Bob

By the way, the photographs were taken on the Irrawaddy river near Mandalay.

I have been looking for the perfect travel jacket for decades and from what I hear, you have designed it.  I am taking a group of photographers to Burma at the end of this month and I wonder if you have a demo model that I may be able to test on the trip.  I would be delighted to provide you with photographs of the jacket in action.  In addition to the workshops I teach, I am also co-chair of the annual Travel Writers and Photographers Conference at the Book Passage in California  http://www.bookpassage.com/content.php?id=241  and I am continually looking for products that help travelers.

Thank you for your help.

Property went missing during screening at Ottawa airport

Photograph by: Bruno Schlumberger, The Ottawa Citizen

Kyle Boulay got a lot of bad advice about what he should do after he lost his wallet at a pre-boarding gate at Ottawa airport last summer.

Six months later, he's still being pointed in different directions.

What bothers Boulay isn't the cash that he lost or the inconvenience of having to have his credit, bank and ID cards re-issued. He says "it's just the fact that there's so little accountability" over the lousy help he received from authorities in trying to find the wallet.

Boulay, a Carleton University student who was embarking on an agricultural exchange trip -- first to the Gaspé Peninsula in eastern Quebec, and then to the African country of Mali -- barely made his Montreal-bound flight after going through pre-board screening at Ottawa airport. He couldn't get through the metal detector because it kept sounding off. At least three times, he was sent back to find and remove from his clothing whatever was setting it off. The harried Boulay finally got through and made it to his plane just minutes before it was to take off for Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Dorval.

Oops, he thought, as he took his seat. "I don't have my wallet."

Boulay, 23, remembered placing it on the conveyor belt after the detector sounded a third or fourth time. He retrieved his other belongings, but figured he missed the wallet because he had not placed it in a bin.

He managed to speak to the pilot. Too late, he was told, but he could go to airport security at Pierre Trudeau and have his problem relayed to Ottawa.

Boulay says he was told at the Dorval airport by security that all their Ottawa counterparts would have to do if they hadn't already found his wallet was review video from closed-circuit cameras.

"They said: 'We would just take the camera. It would take two seconds. It wouldn't be a problem, but that's what we would do. We can't speak for Ottawa, but I don't see why that would be a problem'," Boulay told The Public Citizen.

If the wallet hadn't been found, Boulay was hoping the video would show someone pocketing it.

Boulay phoned Ottawa airport security from the Air Canada counter, and says he was able to provide a "10-minute window" of when he went through the security gate. A wallet had not been turned in, he was told, and before airport security could review video, authorization was required from Ottawa police. Pressed for time because he had another plane to catch, he decided to wait until he got to Amqui -- the first stop on his exchange trip -- to call police. But police say Boulay's call came a week after he left Ottawa and he couldn't say where in the airport he had misplaced the wallet.

"I guess it was a civilian I was speaking to," Boulay said, adding the man didn't sound too interested in the problem. He was told the information would be passed on, but if the police didn't get anywhere with it, Boulay just wouldn't hear anything more.

Boulay was given a case number. He didn't hear from police for the duration of his four-month trip.

He called police in late January after returning to Ottawa from Mali. He was told his file was closed, as an officer determined there wasn't any evidence to warrant checking the camera. But when Boulay finally made contact with the officer a couple of weeks ago, he was told that it had been his own responsibility to call airport security with the case number to have the video reviewed.

The officer gave him a number for airport security. They told Boulay the opposite. Police have to provide case numbers directly to airport security before anything is done, he was informed.

Regardless of who was supposed to do what, it's too late to do anything, as that video is long gone. Video from pre-boarding gates is only kept for about 15 days.

Too bad so much time has passed, says the Canada Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), which is responsible for pre-board screening at Canadian airports. It would have gladly reviewed the video if Boulay had spoken to staff back when he lost the wallet.

Authority spokesman Mathieu Larocque says the security personnel Boulay spoke to at the Dorval airport appear to be the only ones who knew what they were talking about.

Larocque says he can only guess that Boulay was not directed to the CATSA office at the Ottawa airport when he called there between flights last August and again this month.

Larocque says there are procedures in place when CATSA gets a complaint from a passenger about a lost item or even rude security staff. A report is taken and the video is reviewed to see if an investigation is warranted.

In the case of Boulay's wallet, Larocque says if the video showed it had been pocketed, the thief would have been identified from pre-boarding records. The information would then have been turned over to police.

Is anything bothering you where you live, work or play?

We'd like to know.

You neglected to mention those international flights  now allow only one carry-on, not two!    SEV jackets are the answer for taking along what would have otherwise gone in the second bag.  I did that once on a flight into China when the rules were suddenly changed and your second bag could not be more than 7 kilos. The producer of a documentary freaked because he could not take his computer holding a lot of images, nor the mics, and the  mega storage device with the entire documentary footage on it.  And in any case, nothing more would have fit in the other suitcase.  We re-arranged things in our two carry-ons, so we had all of his essentials.    And I put the  stuff i did not want to check into  the SEV jacket.  The airport people weighed the bag but not the jacket, which contained about 8 kilos of stuff:   cell phone, headphones,  inflatable seat pad,   book,  journal, pens, sunglasses, purse,  sanitizers,  snacks,  and a lot more.   I could have even fit a small computer in there had I wanted to!

We are looking for a full time Graphic Designer

http://www.scottevest.com/jobs/

Full-time Graphic Designer/Developer Needed

SeV/SCOTTEVEST (www.scottevest.com) is the world's most innovative travel clothing company, based in Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho.  We are famous for the many hidden pockets found in all of our clothing, and for our patented Personal Area Network (PAN) that manages headphone wires in jackets, vests, shirts and hoodies.

Right now, we are in the middle of an unprecedented growth cycle and have immediate need for a full-time, top-notch graphic designer with (at least intermediate) web-development experience.  Be ready to hit the ground running - we work at a very fast pace and you will be expected to keep up.  After a trial period of several projects, the successful candidate will transition to full-time work with our standard benefits package.

Listed in order of importance, you need to have these skills:
* Design for web (including image optimization)
* Photo manipulation
* Design for print (including magazine advertising)
* Vector artwork
* Flash Animation (including basic actionscript, experience designing banner ads)
* Design for apparel (woven tags, etc. not just designs for screen-printed t-shirts!)
* 3D rendering

It would be ideal if you can design/build sophisticated web pages using CSS, HTML, MySQL, etc. but if your other skills are good enough this may not be an absolute requirement.  In any case, you MUST have a working knowledge of design and development for web... we are primarily an online retailer.

Programs Required:
* Photoshop (CS3 or 4)
* Illustrator
* Flash (mostly animation & some actionscript)
* Dreamweaver or other web editor
* InDesign

We will NOT consider any candidate who does not provide a portfolio (e.g. PDF, links to work, etc.) with their application.  We will primarily judge your application based on your work.  Please familiarize yourself with our brand and online image at www.scottevest.com, and some recent print projects for the NY Times here, Esquirehere and Bluff poker magazine here.  Send your portfolio, resume and cover letter with expected salary (a note in the body of an e-mail is fine) to: scott@scottevest.com.  No calls, please.

Sincerely,

Scott

PASSPORT Magazine review

Evolution Travel Jacket from SCOTT-EVEST

With airline regulations subject to change at a moment's notice, it makes sense to minimize your luggage no matter how far you are traveling. Here's the easy answer: wear your stuff. The Evolution Travel Jacket from SCOTT-EVEST has 25 pockets, both internal and external, in which to tuck away all your gadgets, passport, tickets, snacks, and more. The lightweight jacket is wrinkle- and stain-resistant, breathable, and water repellant with removable sleeves and hood if you want to go lean and mean in a vest. There is an internal “Personal Area Network” for wire management so your headphone wires don't get tangled in your sleeves. Pockets (some with discreet graphic labels) close securely so you can place the entire organized bundle on the conveyer belt without electronics tumbling out. Then, while everyone else is re-packing their carry-on, you just slip on your Evolution and head to the lounge. Black or marine blue. $150. www.scottevest.com

Anyone interested learning about SCOTTEVEST's patents and our recent litigation to enforce them, should listen to this podcast

Episode #8 | Spotlight on Success | Scott Jordan, ScotteVest

Submitted by Cali on August 28, 2009 – 2:11 pm3 Comments

Scott Jordan, ScotteVestShow Overview

On episode 8 of Wealth Nation, we’re introducing a new segment called Spotlight on Success, where we focus on one entrepreneur or successful businessman and find out why they’re successful. What choices did they make that got them to where they are? What are the challenges they’ve faced when beginning their company or during the growing process? Having been there and done that, what do they suggest other entrepreneurs do?

Show Notes

We’re starting with a well known entrepreneur, Scott Jordan from ScotteVest. ScotteVest makes Technology Enabled Clothing (TEC) meant to hold electronics without looking bulky. They also incorporate the ability to route your wires through the jacket so you don’t have earphone wires hanging out and getting caught on door handles. Scott started ScotteVest when he was unhappy with his job and has built it into a successful, profitable company with a great reputation.

John, Cali and Neal talk to Scott about the beginning of ScotteVest, how he funded it and how he’s hiring less people in favor of using technology and contractors outside of the company to get work done.  We take a look at his distribution model, discuss how much effort entrepreneurs tend to put into their own companies, and talk in detail about the biggest challenge he’s faced when having to defend his trademark.

Check out the ScotteVest website at ScotteVest.com. You can follow Scott Jordan on Twitter and Facebook, or watch him live on Stickam while he’s hard at work building and maintaining his business.

Need your help with ideas for our new advertising program: SecureTray - airport advertising

I just learned that you can advertise on the plastic bins in airports.  How cool is that?  The very moment you are hassled about removing all your gadgets one by one, and juggling all your other things, we can tell people about our unique travel clothing solution.   But we only have a few seconds at most to really capture their attention, and we definately want to measure a response, so an offer and/or url is needed for sure.  So, please tell me your thoughts on the creative and messaging.

This is all I have so far: i really liked this messaging, see attached
i think we can play off of that in some fashion, SCOTTEVEST reminds you not to forget your cellphone, iPhone, blackberry, and other key valuables in the plastic cup, and reminds you that if you had a SeV, you'd never forget it
visual show xRay underneath messaging

Also, may be consider adding message about using as bonus carry on. That may be a good alternate message, e.g. you could have had a bonus carry on bag or saved $25 by using the storage capacity of the www.SCOTTEVEST.com.

We are doing a test in one airport, and if successful we are going to roll this out nationally, and support it with other airport advertising.

Tips for Easy Travel, New Contest, Survey, Daily Sales & More

Dear SeV Newsletter Subscribers,

If you would prefer to watch a video version of this newsletter, please click here or continue to read below instead.

The fun part about writing these newsletters is going back through all of the SeV news from the past week and bringing you the highlights.  This week we received a great article about Travel Made Easy from Barry Moltz.  Barry is a good friend, fantastic author and a SCOTTEVEST Board Member... but he is not a travel writer.  So why listen to travel advice from him?... because it's great advice!  (And, of course it mentions SeV).  Check out the Travel Made Easy article here.

While the iPad still isn't out for another two months, we wanted to make it easier for you see which of our products can hold the iPad.  Visit the product page for any of our jackets or vests and look for the "Compatible with iPad" icon.  In the Details/Description for that item it will indicate which sizes will hold the iPad.

  • From now through the end of February we're running a "Travel Made Easy: Clothes On Your Back" contest.  Send us a photo (or even better, a video) of what you would pack in your SeV if you were going away for a weekend and not taking ANY bags with you... just what you can carry in your SeV.  Of course, we want to see what you look like wearing it, too!  Bonus points for tweeting about it, posting it on Facebook or Youtube and getting a lot of comments and views.  Tell us where you would go for your "Clothes on Your Back" weekend, and our favorite submission gets a whole SeV outfit - your choice of jacket/vest/hoodie, your choice of Performance shirt or Cotton t-shirt, and your choice of SeV pants.  One entry per person (but you can submit multiple photos, videos, etc.), and all entries must be received by 11:59PM ET February 28th 2010.  Send your entries or questions to newsite@scottevest.com.  Likewise, if you post your items to your blog, Facebook, etc. send us links so we can see what you've put up.  Winner will be announced in the following week's newsletter.  For ongoing info about the contest, read about it here.

  • As always, we value your opinions, so we set up a new survey to ask your feedback on a number of questions.  It's very short, so please participate.

  • As you may know, the secret Sale Page

is updated just about every day with a new deal. It's the best place to find one-day only sales and a quick run-down on the latest SeV news all in one place.  Today's sale is for 20% off the TEC Shirt.  If you missed the other sales this week, bookmark the page so you don't miss them again!  Check back daily – you never know what is going to be on sale.  If you follow @scottevest on Twitter you will get notified every time something goes up on the sale page.
  • Some great press and reviews this week:

    We are moving up the ranks for Travel Clothing and Travel Clothes on Google. We would really appreciate if you would click these links to do a Google search for Travel Clothing and Travel Clothes and click on the SCOTTEVEST link in the search result (below the ads). We should be on the first (or second) page for both of these terms and are trying to make it up to the top result!

    We love to interact with our fans, so be sure to become a fan of SeV on Facebook, follow SeV on Twitter, and check out SCOTT TV on our SCOTTEVEST/Connect page. If you have a moment, please fill out this new survey to help us plan for 2010.

    Sincerely,
