First Look at New SCOTTEVEST Pack Jacket- VERY COOL

Today's post is a bit different. I am previwing my first reaction to a new product, the Pack Jacket. I really like this product, and hope you will too. Also, since I didn't do any weekend post, I thought you'd like to see some pics taken on a hike. The wild flowers are amazing.

I really dig this jacket idea. That'll be a great hiking/biking jacket, especially since I begin commuting by bike/bus this fall.

The light weight vest is a welcome addition as well. I love your products, but can't wear many through the year as I"m in Las Vegas and it's really really hot.

My question about the jacket though is this: Does it come out really wrinkly looking after a user has just shoved it back into bag form like people will. WE aren't gonna fold it up nice to put it back, so I'd be curious to see how it looks after a few times in and out by being crumpled as it inevitably will be.

Hi Able-X! I'm so glad you like the Pack Jacket...I think the concept will work well as a Vest as well. In a Vest I would probably make the Pack zipper pocket with a vertical orientation, lower and to the side so it would be easy to access when biking. As for the wrinkle issue, these rip stops do tend to wrinkle. Most of the time once you put it on your body heat will flush the wrinkles out. This is the first product to use this fabric so we're still seeing how it performs. I'd love to hear what colors you like for this type product. Thanks! Kristin (the designer)

WOW - that's awesome. Great post, too. I like the look of the first one especially, and it's a tiny footprint. Is the material waterproof? I could see stowing that in the back pocket or PubPocket while hiking and slipping it on if you need a little extra coverage. It was hard to tell what color the first one is (sort of looked like a dark earth color, but that could be because of the lighting and black background). The way it packs up into an envelope is really sweet... great job! Any ETA on availability? Next Summer?

Hey, Scott. That new pack jacket looks like a winner to me. I'm looking forward to getting one for sure. I have the same problem that Thom mentions. It gets quite hot here (Wenatchee, Washington) in the summer and any jacket at all is out of the question. I'd really like a lightweight waterproof version of your jackets for Fall and Spring though and the pack jacket looks like it. I don't like the shiny rattly fabric either.

As far as color is concerned it is hard to tell from the small image on the video. How about posting slightly larger swatches on the blog? I tend to favor the darker colors though.

And thanks for posting those weekend pictures. Gorgeous country. Are those flowers a white lupine? The only lupine we have around here is purple. My wife and I stayed overnight in Twin Falls a couple of years ago and then drove up to Craters of the Moon. Next time we'll take a side jaunt and take a look at the Ketchum area for sure.

No need to apologize for missing a weekend post. Take time to renew your spirit with your wife in that beautiful country.

Thanks Al for your comments. I will try to scan the colors and post here. I think we decided on colbalt blue, orange, and dark grey for now.

Please visit us if you are in the area next time. I would love to meet you.
Those are lupines, but the are multi colored; very odd, and beautiful.

Thom, those Pack Jackets will be here by early winter I hope, if not sooner, so get ready to launch them. The material is waterproof.
