LA Times Touts SCOTTEVEST/SeV Travel Vest

Check out the article about our new Travel Vest in today's LA Times here. Nice way to wake up on a Sunday.

Travel Vest helps get gadgets through airport security

By Hugo Martín, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
April 25, 2008

Idaho-based Scottevest says its newest design -- the Travel Vest -- makes airport security a breeze because you can carry all your electronic devices (iPods, cellphones, digital cameras) in one vest that easily slips through the X-ray machine. The vest, priced at $100, has 22 pockets, each designed and labeled for a specific use.

The vest looks good and, with stain- and water-resistant fabric, wears well. But life may be getting too complex when our clothing comes with a user manual that looks like an electronic schematic. Info: (866) 909-8378, www.scottevest.com.

Better yet. . .a Scottevest full of gadgets, snacks, etc. do not count as a carryon.

When I bought my Tactical 4.0, I was in LA. When I was heading home, LAX security FREAKED out when they saw the camelback, the wiring in the PAN, the MP3 Player - it was like I was "wired" to present a threat to them. If the Times has written an article about it, then maybe the TSA will read it. I wrote Laura back in 2005 about it. I'm glad you're getting the good press.

Thanks for your comment. While we have had isolated reports like the one you mention, on the whole we have had very few reports like that, and we are finding that most TSA agents are familiar with the SeV. It was not the SeV that triggered their concern but the amount of stuff it enables you to carry. If you had that much stuff in a "normal" jacket, you would have been stopped by that same agent doing his job.
