Dear Blogging and Tech Friends,
As you may have heard, the Red Cross is accepting $10 donations via SMS to help with the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. The Red Cross raised over $1.2 million yesterday with this program and I'm trying to do my part and help increase this number. We will be matching tech blog readers' SMS donations to the Red Cross as my budget and the donations of others in our industry permits. Rather than buying yet another gadget, I'm putting up $500 in matching funds. Fellow bloggers from Gear Diary ( http://www.geardiary.com/2010/01/14/mobile-tech-community-rallies-to-help-haiti/) and Mobility Minded have agreed to match an additional $450. Scott Jordan of ScottEVest has agreed to match $2,500 in funds for the Red Cross. We'd like to see this amount grow. I'm writing to ask if you'll help spread the word about our matching program and send your own $10 donation to the Red Cross via SMS. All you need to do is send a text message with the word "Haiti" to 90999 on your mobile phone. If you'd like us to match your donation, please visit http://notebooks.com/go/haiti/ and let us know you made the donation. If you or your company have the ability to add to our matching pool it would be truly appreciated. I'd be glad to recognize your support of this campaign with a thank you link from Notebooks.com to the blog/site/product/charity of your choice. Donations small and large are more than welcome. Please share the following link with your friends on your blogs, Twitter, Facebook, etc. even if you're not able to financially support the campaign at this time. If you know someone that may be interested in supporting this effort, please feel free to forward my contact info (below). http://notebooks.com/go/haiti
Please excuse me for this rather impersonal/blast email, especially to those of you who have offered your support already.
Your efforts are truly appreciated. Humbly Yours,
Xavier Lanier Xavier Lanier
