I do support and enjoy the solicitation of opinions from those that are part of your target market, and your past customers.
I also can see your designers frustrations. In the end I tip the scales to solicitation for several reasons that are unimportant for these purposes.
On liability...you're an attorney and don't need opinion on product liability.
Bluetooth helmets aren't attractive to me and a bunch of people choose not to wear helmets. I concur with your opinion about carrying items on your person.
Distribution: I don't know enough about this to give an informed opinion. I'm not experienced in that area.
Colors/liners: I commented on the subtleness of colors...and the overall loudness of cycle jackets..."LOOK AT ME ME ME". I concur with the non-loud understated ski/snowboard look vs. the prior.
Sorry about your pack jacket situation.
I suggest some type of unobtrusive - less bulky armorin strategic locations, subtle reflective safety piping on the back...and I love cordura...it's a neat, durable, and all round great fabric. It doesn't come to mind as "crunchy"...but I wouldn't want it as a liner or touching my skin...
