Introduction to a Design/Development Discussion with SCOTTEVEST's Kristin Blanck

While SCOTTEVEST's CEO Scott Jordan is away, we have a number of guest bloggers filling in. Today, SCOTTEVEST's own design guru Kristin Blanck discusses some ideas about products you may see from SeV over the next 12 months.

Post was good. Kristin had made several good observations. The cotton fabrics are much more comfortable than the performance fabrics for the polo or Tee. Casual shirts and pants would be a big benefit that we would like to see. Luv the idea of moving the zipper to a seam to make it more conservative. Thom had made an a good correlation that the average travel pants are on clearence because of the crepe feel of the fabric. Wrinkle free fabric feels like wearing a plastic bag in summer (not good at all and not something that one would wear to a meeting). The cotton fabric is the way to go. I have tried a few Nano fabric cottons and they still feel like wearing pants made of plastic garbage bags (these get donated in short order). Travel pants need to be comfortable when you are on a transaltantic flight for 8 hours. FYI I thing cotton is better after 8 hours than a poly blend.

Motorcycle Jacket - may be a good idea, but I would not buy one. I read about the Milan, but have not seen one. You may want to offer another round as your customer base has grown since that offering.

As for more styles of pants (no comment). I ordered another pair of the tan pants only to find out they were sold out in my size. You may want to focus on more stock than different styles. I would like to order the classic cargo pants but my size was not offered. Point is to maximize your sales with your existing client base before trying to enlarge your client base. IMHO.

Hydro.

(i dont have a google/blogger name).

Thom and Kristen,

Just an out of the box thought.

Many people will want to put their own logo on a ScotteVest. Because of all the great pockets, and perhaps even the worry of letting some embrodiary place sew on this great vest....What about taking a lesson from the military.

The military sews a couple of swatches of a fabric-like velcro that enables you to stick any patch on the uniform. You can tear it off and put another patch. People go to embrodiary place and have them make a logo on a fabric patch. Easy to do Like a flight jacket, people will get creative and make the ScotteVest their personalized vest of choice along with all the great ScotteVest detail.

Just a thought.

That's an interesting idea, Matthew. We've done embroidery for various firms before (like BlackBerry on the Fleece 5.0), but a patch strip could be pretty cool. Personally, I think the Evolution could look really slick with something like that positioned to be part of the design with it on or off.

Any suggestions for an SeV Morale Patch?
