An Exclusive First Look at the Newest SCOTTEVEST Women’s Items: the Women’s Lightweight Vest and the Go2 Jacket
Posted on 09 September 2010 by Judie Lipsett Stanford
You know how you can see the most gorgeous ball gown on a hanger, and while you’re able to appreciate the materials used and the workmanship that went into the garment, there’s just no way to know how fabulous it could look until you finally put it on? That’s kind of how I felt when I opened a package containing prototypes of the two new Fall 2010 SCOTTEVEST women’s products — the Lightweight Vest (in a large) and the Go2 Jacket (in medium).
I received a box containing both products in early July. I was told up front that the garments I received weren’t 100% finished, and that there might be some minor changes yet be made before they were formally introduced. But what I received is very close to what will be released, and Scott was kind enough to allow me to share them with you.
Now bear in mind — these products are not yet even on the SCOTTEVEST site and they can’t be pre-ordered, but Scott will be formally announcing them on his site sometime next week and they will be available soon after. I will update this post with the release dates and proper web links as soon as I have them.
Are you ready? Let’s take a peek …
I gathered up a friend and her mother-in-law, and we got some live action shots so you all could see what the same two jackets look like on three different women with three very different body types. I’m going to post a lot of pictures and a few impressions, but I’ll save the full commentary for the official reviews once these items are officially released.
The Women’s Lightweight Vest
Composed of 65% cotton and 35% nylon with a 100% polyester mesh lining, the Women’s Lightweight Vest is one garment that I could see myself practically living for 3/4 of the year. Loaded with pockets, this vest is a great way to leave the house without having to tote a purse. And yes, I know that there are times when you’ll still want to carry your big ol’ Louis Vuitton, Coach, or Dooney, but sometimes it just makes more sense to travel light … like when you are hiking or spending the day at an amusement park with the kids. Loaded with 20 pockets, the Lightweight Vest still nips at the waist while allowing for a curvy woman’s butt and chest. The fabric is water-resistant, lightweight and breathable, but perhaps most importantly — the vest can be folded into its own back pocket for easy storage when it’s not needed!

The Women’s Lightweight Vest will sell for $100; it will be available in black and oat.
The Go2 Jacket
I fell in love with the Go2 Jacket when I removed it from the package — even though the sample was a little bit small, and even though it was 100º+ outside and hard to imagine it being cold enough to enjoy a jacket with quilted lining, I could tell that this jacket will be a winter staple. The Go2 is a quilted women’s jacket that is warm without being bulky and that offers all of the fabulous pockets we have come to expect in our SeV garments – without sacrificing fit and style. One of the most noticeable differences between this prototype and the final version are color; the prototype is navy and the final version will be black. I kind of like the navy, but black will look great, too!
The Go2 has a 100% nylon waterproof shell and a warm quilted lining made of polyester; it has 20 pockets which have been engineered to hold items without making the woman wearing the jacket look like the Michelin Man.
