I am glad to see Kristen......I like her! I live in a swing state and we kicked some ass! This is a great day in our history as Americans! I can say, without any media scrutiny, I am for the first time truly proud to be an American! Yeah!!!
to anomymous....thanks for your post! I worry that I may be too opinionated on some of the blogs, but really love my lively conversations/discussions with Scott. Last night was an amazing moment in the history of our country and I'm glad I was here to see it and priviledged to have the opportunity to cast my vote.
I am anxious to see what happens in our country now that it is has full Democratic rule beyond the supreme court, which I am sure will change within the next 2 years. And personally I believe if McCain hadn't picked Palin as his running mate, we may have seen a different outcome. It was stated in an exit poll by CNN I believe, that 60% of voters where not confident as Palin as VP let alone Presidency.
Kristen your opinions, I feel, come from a place of neutrality and intelligence. Today that is a rare point of view. The far right and their crazy religious views need to go find some place to hide, until they can embrace science and intelligence. Barack Obama is a man of great wisdom without a personal agenda. I truly believe that his only agenda is for the greater good. I may be naive, but in all my years, which are quite a few, he has completely moved me. He has already changed our world view, dramatically. That in itself is HUGE. I live in a community that literally thinks he is the anti-christ. How sad and backwards is that? Anyway, we proved as a people the other night that an election was not bought or won because you happen to be washington elite, so for every time someone unjustly won, it was also a great night! Take care.........and I, as Scott, love your laugh too. GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA!!
Let's not forget that getting to office is just 1/16 of the battle.
Surviving another 4 years is another matter entirely. And let's hope the posterchild for social mobility can make an example we can all be proud of.
I don't know if Obama will deliver us to the promised land as advertised, but the 8+ million of those who didn't vote for him should be a sobering reminder that this was a close call and we will still need to play well with others.
As Obama himself mentioned in his speech, he appreciates and welcomes the support he has recieved, but will also be relying on the support of those who did not vote for him as well.
