What do you carry?/What I carry everyday.

We are soliciting opinions on what people typically carry with them daily to help us make our designs better. Being located in Sun Valley, Idaho, I don't travel terribly much, but in my recent trips to NYC and Las Vegas, I found that I carry more items than usual and needed them to be readily accessible, e.g., boarding passes, ID, etc. These trips have helped me come up with the newly designed Travel Vest and Essential Jacket. So, if you have a moment, please post on this blog or send to me at scott@scottevest.com (preferably post) the items you: (1) always carry, (2) would like to carry if you could, and (3) carry only when traveling. See below for my list:

1. Items I Always Carry:
  • Blackberry 8830 with BlueAnt Headset
  • iTouch 16gig, with wires
  • Keys
  • SunGlasses
  • Chapstick
  • Change
  • Business Cards
  • Gloves, in winter
  • Poop bags for my dogs
  • Mints
  • Treats for my dogs
  • Pen
2. Things I would carry with me if I could:
  • Well, this is kind of difficult for me, since that's why I invented the SCOTTEVEST, to carry with me everything I want to carry, so having said that, it would be cool to have a pocket for snacks that would keep them fresh/warm/cold. I am working on it :)
3. Things I carry when I travel, in addition to above 1
  • Tons of extra cords to recharge the above devices
  • Boarding Pass
  • Tablet Computer, and cords to charge
  • Portable GPS unit
  • I forgot to mention my digital camera, which I often have with me everyday too
I am sure I am missing some things, but this is off the top of my head. Please let me know what you carry.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I plan to go skiing, hopefully, if I can beat this cold/fever I have had now for 2 weeks.

Scott

  6. Hi Scott.
I can highly recommend the Shure headsets. The e2c are great to just travelling around where sound quality is not as important. The e4c is great in the office where the quality of the iPod really lets them shine.

  11. I know this is late, but I only found out you had a blog and wanted to offer my ideas! I don't carry nearly as much as the above guys, but I'm a geek, nerd and a little obsessive/compulsive about how I carry my stuff:

    Things I generally carry:

    - Wallet
    - Phone (Nokia N95 1GB version)
    - Small set of keys
    - Microsoft Zune mp3 player
    - Ear-bud headphones for the above

Really, that's it. If I head to work, I carry a few other pieces in a laptop bag, since it's usually easier than stuffing it into my microfleece hoodie. Makes me seem like nothing compared to the other guys! If I wanted to, and needed to (and had the jacket to do it), I would also like to carry on me:

    - A small digital camera with spare batteries
    - A charging cable for my Zune
    - USB cable
    - A small book
    - Possibly my PSP if it had any games that didn't suck
    - A small portable hard drive.

All in all I carry that second lot in a laptop bag, since it's stuff I don't NEED with me all the time.

  12. Every day in my 3.0 Jacket:
2 72mm contact juggling balls (one in each main handwarmer pocket
    eyeglasses screwdriver kit
    lightweight synthetic gloves (year round)
2-4 tubes of chapstick (I lose them in the jacket otherwise)
    sunglasses
    an Outdoor Research Rain hat
    band-aids
    ear plugs
3' long exercise band for forearm exercises
    Palm Pilot PDA
    60GB Ipod
    2 USB flash drives
    bottle of antihistamine tablets
    small flashlight
at least one pair of earbuds
    bottle of ibuprofen
a small pill box for other random medications
    business cards
    my badge for work
    breath mints
    spare earplugs (to give away)
Pieces of paper with random info I need
A Lacrosse ball for working on the trigger points in my back/neck
    a sharpie (pen)
    two other pens
Jawbone bluetooth earpiece for my cell phone

In the pants, I'll also carry:
    keys
    wallet
    change
    cash
with my cell phone and my leatherman tool on my belt

When I travel I add to the jacket (or vest in hot places):
    my passport
    my tickets
    Shure e2c earbuds
    a bottle of water
    a bag of trail mix
at least one book maybe a magazine as well.
All the receipts for that trip (in one mostly dedicated pocket)
    AA batteries

    I add to the pants:
emergency money/ID/Credit Card in hidden pocket

I may move some of those items to my Hidden Cargo pants or Ultimate Cargo pants depending on what I'm doing. (frequently the water bottle goes in a cargo pocket)
